Living in the 21st century has many challenges and not many answers. Over
ten weeks J.John will be looking at the 10 Commandments and helping us
apply them to daily life. The Just 10 launch service with J John at Winchester
Cathedral on 12th October was an inspiration with over 1400 people in attendance,
many of them under 25 years of age. The mission will run over ten weeks
between April 22nd and June 24th 2009, when J John will be looking at the
Ten Commandments and helping us apply them to daily life. Rather than being
an irrelevant set of rules J John will present the commandments as an essential
guide to modern life.
It is said of this course – “The realisation that contemporary society shows many alarming signs of having turned its back on God gave J.John the desire to reach out to people in a new and engaging way. In January 1998, J.John commenced a new series of area-wide, inter-church missions in towns and cities across the UK, based on the Ten Commandments. But unlike the do's and don'ts most people imagine when quizzed about the Maker's Instructions, the message was to be both a challenge and an encouragement. 'Thou shalt not steal' is entitled 'How to prosper with a clear conscience' and 'Thou shalt not commit adultery' is unpacked as 'How to Affair-Proof your Relationships.'
J.John believes that 'the Ten Commandments - God's Top Ten - are not obsolete, they are absolute,' and of a recent series, J.John commented, 'I have been enormously humbled at the way our series’ have helped people to re-assess, re-focus their priorities and in many cases, restart their lives.'
With music, video and an entertaining presentation from J John, the 10 Commandments are presented in a positive light, showing that far from being a set of rules to oppress us, they are the key to finding freedom in life.
