If ours is to be a listening church, we need
to shape our life…..
- by listening to God; finding out how best we can serve Him in the service
of others.
- by listening to the community of the faithful in and around St.John’s,
and finding out how best we can serve Christ’s people through our Church,
in our prayer and worship, pastoral care, teaching and equipment in faith
and ministry.
- by listening to our fellow Christians in Alresford, and finding out
how best we can serve Christ together.
- by listening to the community of Alresford and district, and finding out how best we can serve Christ in and around our town.
- by listening to the diocese of which we are an integral part, and finding out how best we can serve Christ in the Diocese of Winchester.
- by listening to our nation, to help us, as part of the national church, to find out how best we can serve Christ as part of the Established Church.
- by listening to people of other nations, and finding out how best we can serve Christ in the world.
We have begun this exercise already by meeting together for prayer
on a Tuesday evening each month. In October we embarked upon
a Week
of Prayer to help us be more attentive to God,
each other and ourselves.
